Tropical Dreamsicle Smoothie

Smoothies are quick and easy to make, portable, hydrating, and a great way to introduce fiber and superfoods to a toddler’s diet.

This Tropical Dreamsicle Smoothie tastes so good — and is good for you, too — with omega-3s, protein, fiber, healthy fats, and immune-boosting vitamins like vitamin C and A. No sugar added! The smoothie gets its sweetness naturally from the fruit — and coconut water, if using. A small pinch of salt brings out the flavors and sweetness.

For ages 1 and up
Servings: 2 (approximately 4 ounces each)
Prep time: 5 minutes
Difficulty level: Easy


  • ¾ cup of filtered water (or coconut water)
  • ½ teaspoon of chia seeds
  • 2 scoops of Healthy Times Organic Toddler Formula
  • 1 teaspoon of shredded unsweetened coconut (or you could use nut butter, such as almond, cashew or sunflower seed butter)
  • 1-2 baby carrots (or 1 tablespoon of carrot baby food)
  • ½ of a small frozen banana
  • ½ cup of frozen organic mangos (or peaches)
  • Small pinch of unprocessed salt, such as pink Himalayan or Real Salt (just a pinch — you don’t want a salty smoothie!)
  • Ice (if desired, to thicken)


  • Put the water, chia seeds and formula into the blender. Blend on low setting for a few seconds to incorporate everything. Allow to sit for 3 minutes to soften and hydrate the chia seeds and formula.
  • Add remaining ingredients and blend well until completely smooth (no chunks are left).
  • If you desire a thicker consistency, add 1-2 ice cubes and blend until ice is completely incorporated.
  • Pour into a glass or sippy cup and enjoy! Pour extra into a Popsicle mold and freeze for a smoothie pop later.
